My computer crashed and reinstalled windows. Now my recording will record without sound when my speakers are in mute. I usually put my headphones in mute and audacity will record a certiain show at a given time, It still records its just doesnt have any audio. Any idea?

Configure your devices as you want them in Windows Sound. Perhaps the headphones are default playback device instead of the speakers.
Also see Tutorial - Recording Computer Playback on Windows - Audacity Manual. There is plenty of advice there about recording computer playback without hearing it. Typically, choosing Windows WASAPI host and the (loopback) recording device in Device Toolbar will let you record without having to listen to it.
