Recording in Audacity

Was wondering if someone could help me out with Audacity?

I’m trying to record a mix and am getting bad feedback/hissing on the recording when I play it back. I’ve got it set up as follows:

Two to one lead from back of mixer into Griffin I-Mic (no “Line-In” on my laptop). The switch on the Griffin I-Mic has been set to “Mic” as this was the only way I could a decent enough sound into Audacity when I played it back. I cannot get any sound recorded when using the “Line-In” option on the I-Mic.

The four drop down menus are set up like so (from left drop down menu to the one on the right):

  1. MME
  2. Speakers and Headphones
  3. Microphone (iMic USB)
  4. 2 (Stereo) Input

If someone could point me in the right direction that would be appreciated.

I’ve looked at the tutorials and cannot see anything obvious here. There’s no clipping on the recording.

Cheers

Then it may be broken. iMics are not high in the Quality Sound list. Mine is in a dusty box in the garage.

That’s a Behringer UCA202.

The UCA202 is also one of the certified devices that will allow you to do overdubbing and multi-track
