This is hard to explain but when I record something to a click track, I export and save it but in the final version, it’s delayed. The beginning will be in time with the click track but by the end it’s delayed and out of sync. I feel like this has something to do with latency compensation but I changed those settings and it didn’t help. Using Windows 10 and Audacity 2.1.0.
The latency is constant so that’s not it.
How far off is it? Sometimes that will be a clue. For example the difference between 48kHz and 44.1kHz is a difference of about 9%. Normally that’s taken care of automatically but sometimes something goes wrong.
Sometimes it’s caused by using different hardware for recording & playback, such as listening to the click-track or backing track on your regular soundcard and recording with another audio interface or with a USB mic. The internal clocks will never match perfectly* and sometimes cheap soundcards or cheap USB mics can be off by enough to cause problems.
Is your recording faster or slower than the click track? If you get dropouts your recording can end-up shorter (faster) than the click track.

- Pro studios use a super-accurate master clock and interfaces with a master clock input so everything matches exactly down to the sample.
