Hello, I’m on a Mac OS X el capitan and using audacity 2.1.2
I’ve been able to record from a turntable with no problem. Then it seems after I installed the OS X El Capitan the problem began.
Now as it records, I’m getting lots of feedback and super fast sounding recordings with an echo.
I have been following the instructions for setup like I always did before. Can someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong or how to fix this?
Thank You
Feedback and speed problems usually have different causes.
Make sure you have all updates for El Capitan. Early El Capitan had issues with older USB 1.x and 2.0 devices.
Change the USB cable or use another USB port. If you are using LineIn from http://www.rogueamoeba.com/freebies/ turn off Transport > Software Playthrough in Audacity.
You can reset Audacity settings. Quit Audacity if it is still running. In Finder, use
Go > Go to Folder then type
~/Library/Application Support/audacity/
In that “audacity” folder, delete the “'audacity.cfg” settings file.
In /Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup, select the turntable and on the Input tab, set 44100 Hz 2-ch (the same settings that the Audacity reset will use). 16-bit or higher probably does not matter.
