Recording from Line6 HD500

Windows 7 Pro, latest Audacity, latest drivers for POD (Line 6 HD 500), POD connected via USB and recognized in Windows…Sound recording input set as “line6 Digital” device, installed latest version of ASIO and ASIO4All,

Open Audacity, set preferences…input record device as “Digital Audio Interface (line6)”…

Start recording…

Input “mic” meter shows sound being input…meter responds as guitar played thru POD…track “WAVE” signal remains flat and nothing is recorded

Have successfully recorded from a USB connected JamHub device…not form the HD500

Is the problem that the USB connection from the POD is a “midi” type connection and Audacity can’t translate the incoming signal??? Apparently other Line 6 users are able to record to Audacity…

Am at a loss???

So you have the red Audacity recording meters jumping but you have no blue waves on the timeline?

That’s what Audacity does when you right-click on the red recording meters and select “Start Monitoring.”

You actually pressed the red record button, right? Does the cursor on the timeline (blue waves) jitter and lurch or is it completely dead?

Audacity doesn’t use either MIDI or ASIO. I can’t tell so far what’s going down the USB cable. You’ll have to dig in your instructions. If it’s MIDI, then you’re out of luck. If it’s a digital bitstream of the show, then we should be able to get it to work.

This thing also has S/PDIF. You might be able to transfer work to your computer that way.

Thanks for the response…

I Left click on the red record button…the input “mic” meter shows responses to input from the HD500 as I strum guitar…the middle track 1 recording “wave” is generated, moves to the right as if I am recording…the line is flat…as if it is not actually recording anything…or else the “waves” are so small that it looks like a flat line…however…when I playback nothing comes forth
