Recording from a USB turntable - portions getting attenuated

About a year back I converted a bunch of vinyl records to .mp3 using an Audio Technica USB turntable, a Dell laptop running Windows 10, with no issues at all. Now, with the same equipment and settings, I am facing a peculiar problem. Certain instrumental parts are getting severely attenuated and other parts are dropping in volume. I have tried using an older version of Audacity, but have the same results. Currently I’m using version 3.1.3. I’ve tried swapping USB ports on my laptop, but with no change. The turntable plays perfectly well when used directly. An audio sample is attached for reference.

That’s dual-mono (i.e. both tracks are identical).
Somewhere the music is being mixed-down from stereo to mono,
(which can explain some instruments to be attenuated via phase cancellation).

…while you are there, if you see any Audio Enhancements, turn them off.
