recording feedback up the ying yang with Audacity 2.3.2

Mac OS Mahave version 10.14.4
processor 3.2GHz. core i5

Audacity 2.3.2 Just loaded 5/17/2019. Had Audacity 2.1.2

exported several records to I tunes using audacity 2.1.2. New audacity out. why not upgrade. lots of feedback as soon as I click “begin to monitor”.
I tried everything I could think of to avoid VERY heavy feedback. Thought it was the album. I tried to record same album as I did with audacity 2.1.2. Can’t record without heavy feedback. Has to be something in Audacity 2.3.2 cuz that is all that changed. I can record at VERY low volume but when import to iTunes it is VERY low volume. Not listenable. Steve and Koz, what is going on?

What are you recording from?

Look in the “Transport menu > Transport options” and ensure that “Software Playthrough” is off (not selected).
