Recording Fails w/Blue Snowball Windows 8.1, Audacity 2.1.0

For a few weeks now, I’ve been trying to record some audio w/my Blue Snowball mic. Usually a few seconds into recording, sometimes minutes, it will stop recording, and the “needle” will start flashing. I’ve tried recording w/the mic on my headset and that works fine with Audacity. I’ve also spent a few minutes testing the mic in Windows’ Sound Devices and I’m able to hear myself, it’s just when using it with Audacity that it has problems. Does anyone have any ideas?

Is the headset USB?

Yes, it is

it will stop recording, and the “needle” will start flashing.

You mean the thin line graphic that draws the blue waves into the screen?

See if there’s something in here.

I forgot to mention that I have combed over the troubleshooting guides Audacity has provided and they have not worked.

Do you mean the vertical red line that indicates the recording position? In what way does it “flash”? Is there an error message? Are the recording meters still active?

If you can make a USB recording without the Snowball, I’m having a hard time avoiding there being a problem with the Snowball. Snowballs have replaceable cables. Can you try a new one? It uses a Printer cable.

You are awesome!
Thank you!

What fixed it? Changing the USB cable?
