Recording drums to Audacity through an interface

How do I get Audacity to recognize my interface, which is a Beheinger U-Phoria UM 2?

I use Big Sur 11.2.3 and Audacity 3.0.0

Let’s make sure your Mac can see it. Go to Apple (menu) > System Preferences > Sound > Input. Is the UM2 listed there (might be “USB Audio CODEC”). When you input some sound into the UM2 does the input level meter (in Sound Preferences) bounce?

Windows guy here. Also, make sure your interface is plugged in before starting Audacity. Or do Transport > Rescan Audio Devices.

And make sure Audacity has permission to use your microphone.
