I’m sorry if this has already been answered, but I couldn’t find anything in the FAQs or by searching.
I’m trying to use audacity to passthrough audio from my laptop to TV. The problem I’m having is that if I start a recording in Audacity and open Fallout 4 either before or afterwards the recording stops as soon as Windows switches to Fallout. This doesn’t happen if I’m streaming netflix in Chrome and then go fullscreen with the video. I’m not sure how to work around this problem, or if it can be done.
When I first install the program, it will start recording as soon as I press the record button. Then, after a random amount of time, a new track will only record once the sound starts playing, even though I haven’t touched the Sound-Activated Recording option, which remains off.
Regardless of this, even when the record function starts working, the recording automatically stops when I change screens to Fallout 4. I have tried it with a different game, and the record function works fine; just not with Fallout 4.
I don’t really need to record the sound, I’m just using the software pass through in order to play audio through my laptop and TV speakers at the same time.
It would seem that Fallout 4 is taking exclusive control of the sound card. You need to stop it from doing that if possible. If that’s not possible, then I don’t think you will be able to do what you want to do.
