Hi, I’m trying to record audio from my computer using audacity.
I found out about the MME - > WASAPI, and although the sound does get captured, it has some strange sounds and not exactly the same sound that I’m listening to and doesn’t sound as 3d as the real sound should sound like.
What’s a better way to record audio coming directly from the computer? Thanks, much love.
Dorothy
This page already has all the information that is required about different methods of recording computer audio: Tutorial - Recording Computer Playback on Windows.
WASAPI should be a direct digital copy of the stream. It will still capture the bell noise when your e-mail arrives, so turn off Windows alert sounds if that is the problem. If you are recording from web sites and want the audio as it is on the server, the answer is to download the file that is being streamed. Use your favourite search engine to find out how to do that.
If you want to hear theatrical effects like echo or wide stereo that the sound card may be applying to the audio, you will be better off recording with stereo mix or What U Hear (if your computer has it) and not WASAPI.
