Recording a voice over with an interactive video

I was given the scripts for an interactive video so we could do a voice over and I’m not quite sure how to go about recording it. The video was given to us by a link (I believe through Adobe flash player) so we can’t download it. Since its interactive, you click on a button within the video and it plays the sound recording. What kind of software would we need to invest in in order for the doctor’s voice to be heard instead of the previously recorded voice?

Thanks so much!

Are they expecting you to edit the interactive video to add your voice over to it, or are you just giving them a recording that they can then use?

If you’re just producing the audio recording, then ask them to send you the video files or a DVD video (specify a choice of formats that you know you can play).
If they are expecting you to add the recording to the video, then you will probably need the same authoring program that they are using.

I think this is the magic phrase. I think this is not a paid job. I think this is somebody making a custom mashup by removing an existing voice in a video and subbing a different one. I think the original producers would be horrified that any of this is going on and will not part with the original clips.

Over and above all that, vocal removal doesn’t work. Everybody makes Vocal Removal and Vocal Isolation tools because it’s relatively easy, but there isn’t a very long list of happy users.
