recorded audio not opening

Hello,

I am new to Audacity. I recorded hour-long audio with my partner and saved it, which I think was not the way to do it. Anyways, when I saved it, I created a folder on Documents, called, “Podcast” and when I try to open the Episode (the one on the folder named: Episode1.aup) on Audacity, it tells me: “Couldn’t find the project data folder: Episode1_data”
Also, when I saved it, it created a folder called “eff” with 4 folders filled with our audio, which is about 3 seconds long each.

I want to be able to open thec.AUP file so I can edit but it seems not possible. Please help

Thank you!

Somehow the data folder has been named “Episode 1_data” instead of “Episode1_data”. Note the space before the “1”. Get rid of that space and it should work.

Audacity doesn’t save sound files. It saves Projects.

This is a Project.

The AUP file is all the instructions Audacity uses to put your show together from all that stuff in the _DATA folder. The little AUs are six seconds long.

The AUP file and the _DATA folder have to be in the same place or folder. Don’t put the AUP file inside the _DATA folder.

You can’t change the names of those two outside of Audacity. If you change everything back where it was, see billw58, the show should open by double clicking the AUP file.

Once the show opens, you can make an MP3 file or a perfect quality WAV file under the File > Export system. Use the MP3 for posting on-line or listening on your personal music device, and the WAV as your archive edit master.
