Hello, i did not find anything, regarding my question in the forum. maybe, there is something, pleas tell me.
i´v been using audacity for a long time, recording in 2-channel-stereo.
now i got a tascam US-4x4HR and want to use it with audacity, recording 4 tracks (2x stereo) synchronously.
can anyone tell me, how to get A. to do so?
OK, you are going to need to put in a little elbow grease. There are reports that Audacity will record 4-channels from a Tascam using MME.
Here is what I would do.
- Plug in your Tascam
- Start Audacity
- Transport > Rescan Audio Devices.
- Under Audio Setup, select each of the three different hosts: MME, Direct Sound, WASAPI.
- For each of these Hosts, select your Tascam as the recording device, then see how many channels Audacity offers to record from.
- If the maximum is 2 for all of these hosts, then try updating your driver - you can download a driver from the Tascam website, then repeat the above steps.
Once you find 4 channels available, select that, then Bob’s your uncle.
If the maximum number of channels is still 2, then it may require ASIO support under Windows, which Audacity does not ship with by default.
The device may work properly under MacOS.
I haven’t tried it…
There is some information in the manual: [Multi-channel Recording](https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/multi_channel recording.html).
BUT, it seems like most people are unsuccessful, and I don’t see much discussion here on the forum about it so my assumption is that very few people are multi-tracking with Audacity.
You’ll probably need a Full DAW Application.
Many thanks for your prompt answeres!
Now I know, what to do on weekend
wow, I do´nt need weekend. It works!

I knew you could do it.
