Reconnaissance sono par Audacity

Hello, my portable sound system does not recognize Audacity. Do you know if there is anything to do? Thanks in advance. Alexia

What are you trying to do? Record from your sound system?

How are you connected to the computer?

If you want to record from an external device, usually you need a line input, or an audio device with a USB connection.

On a regular soundcard line-in is usually color coded blue. Most laptops on only have mono microphone-in and headphone out so you may need a USB audio interface with line-inputs.

Thank you so much for your response. In fact I have Audacity files on a Surface Pro 6. I would like to send the sound to my sound system (I connected my Surface to my sound system using a mini jack cable). The sound system transmits the sound of a video well but not the sound of Audacity files. I was wondering why and wanted to know if there is a way to do this.

What are - for you - “Audacity files”? Audacity is primarily for recording; of course it can also play what it has recorded. But usually, recorded sound is exported from Audacity in a “well-known” format, such as .mp3, .wav, .aiff etc. Every common sound application should be able to play them.

On the Mac, I use the Music.app (formerly known as iTunes) to play such files because it offers me the possibility to organize my music according to categories etc. in playlists. iTunes is also available for Windows. There are other applications for Windows with similar functionality, some of them for free and some of them for money.

However, even with a different application, you need to find a way to get your sound out of your computer to your sound system. The computer should have a connector which offers “line-out”; most (or all?) computers have only a headphone connector. It may work - or may not work. Connect it to the “line-in” of your sound system. if you tell us more about the sound system and what connectors it has (and what connectors are on the Surface - because not everyone has thorough knowledge of the technical data of your Surface device.

If your sound system supports “AirPlay”, you should definitely try out iTunes for Windows. You can then send the music to the sound system without any cable connection.

I actually created an Audacity project (a soundtrack for a show). This project is made up of several sounds that I would like to listen to on my sound system so that I can listen to it in a large room and possibly make modifications.
My sound system is a Yamaha portable sound system with console. What I don’t understand is that I can transmit any sound like music on You Tube but the sound from my Audacity project does not come through.

Again: How are they connected? How are the connectors labelled?

YouTube comes as stream from the internet - did you tell your computer that you want to hear from a local file?

Did you select the correct output on Audacity? Did you increase the volume with the slider?

I’m going to check. I can’t do it before Monday. I might come back to you. Thanks a lot!
