RAW Function error?

Hello, i am using audacity 3.7.0, i am using its raw function to convert ensoniq bin to audio

The problem i have been having is when i use 16 bit encoding with stereo output it speeds up the audio x2 as compared to when i use 16bit encoding with mono output which is correct speed and when I use 8 bit encoding with stereo output then left is white noise and right is audio with correct speed.

i am new to this topic so i might not understand some aspects of it.

maybe i will get some useful information from here.

thanks,
zawar

The word “output” in confusing me… Does it play at double speed in Audacity when you first import it?

Are you sure it’s a stereo file? If it’s really mono but you tell Audacity that it’s stereo it will play back faster.

Or you can cut the Sample Rate in half when you import it, the data will be “tagged” with a lower sample rate and it will play back at half the speed.

Or, Audacity has a Change Speed effect.

I don’t know if the file is mono or stereo. I just listened to it and compared both files but the stereo file has a stereo image shouldn’t it be mono if it was a mono file?

when changing the sample rate high freq. are lost so this method can’t be used.

I tried to change the speed in FL Studio to normal (audacity adds generated audio to stretch it) but still the high freq. are lost.

What do you mean by “stereo image”? Are the left & right channels different? A
true-stereo file will have different sounds in each speaker. A true-mono file will play the same thing through both speakers.

If this is the problem you’re only losing the “fake” high frequencies that are created when the pitch is increased along with the speed.

Here are the examples that you can use to test yourself.

I am slowing down the speed up file to match the original file and thus losing the high freq. but the mono file has more high freq. I am getting so lost at this point.

and the raw file

Your stereo file is really stereo. The left & right channels are different.

So I don’t know what the problem is… You may have to lose the higher frequencies or lose the stereo… :frowning:

I did some research and found that these files are mono.

Anyways thanks for help.
