I’m using Audacity 3.1.3. in Windows 10. Wonderful program, really thankful for it!
It’s generating random silences, about 5 to 10 seconds long, in random spots (usually in the first ten minutes of recording), which only appear after exporting it.

Has your project got more than one track in it?
If so, you may have inverted copies of the same audio in different tracks that ‘cancel’ each other.
Nope, just one track. Sometimes there’s cuts in it, as I have to redo a section, but it’s just me reading. I can’t seem to put my finger on when the gap appears either. It’s very odd.
