Question Missing dll

When trying to use some new vst effects I get a message the following file is missing. The effects won’t run without it.

NativeControls5.dll

Where can I get this file?

NativeControls5.dll is not an Audacity file.
Perhaps you have a broken or incompatible Native Instruments plugin?

True it is not an Audacity file but some of the vst plugins that Audacity accomodates use it.

I not know that I have any native instrument plugins at all. Are you suggesting that the file goes to the software of just one developer?

I still need to figure out how to fix it.

This is not an Audacity problem, nonetheless if you need help, please answer the questions in the pink panel at the top of the page so that we have some information to go on.

If you use the latest Audacity 2.0.6 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows then when you add a new VST effect, request a rescan for VST’s in Effects Preferences and restart Audacity, Audacity gives you an “Install VST Effects” dialogue. In that dialogue you can enable or disable different VST effects. Does the message about the missing DLL occur when you OK that dialogue or when you run the effect from the Effect Menu?

What are the names of the effects that have this problem?

One thing I would say - do not go to driver download sites looking for the missing DLL, or you will probably end up harming your computer.
