Question about splitting single Track MP3

Hello,

I’m a newbie so sorry if this is a really stupid question.

I have an MP3 of a radio discussion and I’m wondering if it’s possible to delete completely one speaker even though everyone talks over each other … ?

I’m using windows 10 and I think I had the exe.

In general, no. "You can’t un-bake a cake or un-fry an egg, and you can’t un-mix audio."

If one speaker is on the left and the other speaker is on the right, yes, you can split that into two separate mono files.

And, there are sometimes tricks you can use if one speaker is in the “center” (identical in both channels) and the other speaker is on one side or the other. The “remove vocals” effect works by subtracting the left & right which can perfectly remove everything in the center. (But the vocal remover effect is usually not very satisfying because it removes other important stuff in the center too.)

No, it’s actually a very common question and we always have to disappoint.

Thanks so much.

I thought as much!!

What if one voice is a woman and the other a man? Can I remove higher frequencies? I couldn’t work out how to specify these

That could still end up merely muffling one voice more than the other.

Analyze > Plot Spectrum… shows you frequency against loudness for a selection, so you could see the plot for male voice and replot for a female voice.

Equalization lets you reduce (or increase) frequency ranges.
