After I installed Audacity 2.1.2 on my Windows 10 system, I then downloaded the zip file 1.7. I created an original Vamp Plugins folder directly under Program Files (x86) however when I tried Audacity and selecting a plug in it would just give me errors. I then put it under Program Files (x86)\Audacity\Vamp Plugins and Audacity would work but when I enable the plug ins they don’t stay enabled. These are the files under the Vamp plugins folder. qm-vamp-plugins, qm-vamp-plugins.dll,qm-vamp-plugins.n3
Use the 1.7 plugins (not 1.7.1) from https://code.soundsoftware.ac.uk/projects/qm-vamp-plugins/files.
See here for the simplest way to install VAMP plugins: http://www.vamp-plugins.org/download.html#install.
Program Files (x86)\Audacity\Vamp Plugins is not a supported place to put VAMP plugins.
So assuming you have a 64-bit computer, go back to using “C:\Program Files (x86)\Vamp Plugins” and ensure that folder contains:
qm-vamp-plugins.cat
qm-vamp-plugins.dll
qm-vamp-plugins.n3
After enabling the plugins in Audacity, click OK. Don’t ESC, cancel or use the window Close button.
If it still does not work, exit Audacity, open File Explorer, then copy this:
%APPDATA%\Audacity
Then paste what you copied into a File Explorer address bar and hit ENTER on your keyboard.
In the window that opens, delete the files “pluginregistry.cfg” and “pluginsettings.cfg”. It probably is not necessary to delete the second of those two files.
Then relaunch Audacity, try to enable effects again and click OK.
