I am unable to open a multitude of files that are on my E: External Hard Drive. It has 1.29 TB available - i can access some recent files, all of my old files (that were recovered from a dead laptop on my Licee.) Please help!
I have reinstalled the latest version of Audacity again. Shut down and restarted my computer multiple times, etc.
Which version of Audacity? (look in “Help menu > About Audacity”)
How is the drive connected? USB2?
It is 3.0.3.
The drive is connected by USB2.
I would highly recommend not using external drives when working on a project. It should be OK to move a project to an external drive for storage when Audacity is closed, but we’ve seen a few reports of projects being corrupted by external drives when run from the external drive. In other words, move or copy the project to your computer’s internal drive before opening the project in Audacity.
It’s “possible” that you may be able open a copy of your current projects if you copy them to your computer’s internal drive, but I think it’s more likely that they are broken. Give that a try and I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
