I recently recorded a few important things in audacity. all of them open fine expect one which has an import error saying to open the file via File>Open however that is what I am already doing. It seems to treat it as if i was using the import command even though I’m using the open command. After trying to fix it myself and looking around online I thought I’d ask if anyone here can help me.
I’m using audacity version 2.1.1 and I have not moved, renamed or tampered with the .Aup file or its associated data file.
Open the aup file in a text editor such as NotePad or TextEdit. Is it blank?
Does it look something like this? This is an AUP file spaced out for easier viewing.
If the aup file is damaged or blank, that could make bringing back the clip a little interesting. An Audacity Project has an AUP file and _DATA folder of the same name.
Audacity writes the AUP manager file last, so if you closed up shop before it was written, it may be the end of the world.
