Hello, I am completely new to Audacity. I have windows 8 on my laptop and I have attempted the full download as well as the zip download. After installation, whether I use the shortcut or the audacity.exe, I get the error message that the program cant start because the file mscvp140.dll is missing, and that I should try reinstalling to resolve this. I have reinstalled multiple times, deleted everything and redownloaded several times, but always get this message when I try to run it despite me being able to see that exact .dll file under the .exe file. If anyone can help me with this issue I would forever be grateful. Thanks for your time!

it is now telling me that it cant start because another file is missing-- api-ms-wii-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll
You are missing the Windows “Visual C++ Redistributable” from your computer. You can download it from Microsoft here:

So I downloaded what you suggested and tried audacity once again but the second error message is still popping up. I appreciate your help by the way. any other ideas?
