Problems running Overloud TH2 with Scarlett 2i2

Hello,

I’m trying to record with Scarlett 2i2 but I keep getting an error with the following:

Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate.

I’m using Windows 7 and Audacity 2.0.5

Lots of people use these things, so it should be an adjustment — assuming your Scarlett is OK.

Hello, thanks for your response.

I tried Audacity with Scarlett 2i2 and it works fine.

I’m using Overloud TH2 and the minute I opened it up I came across this problem. Maybe the issue is Overloud TH2 and Audacity? Or a mix of the three?

Is anyone using TH2 with Audacity?

Do you mean you can record with 2i2 as long as you don’t use Overloud TH2? Is this plug-in what you mean by TH2: http://www.overloud.com/products/th2.php ?

Are you trying to record live effects with TH2? No that doesn’t work yet in Audacity, nor does Audacity understand MIDI input.

Ok, after playing with this for a while I realized that Audacity and Scarlett 2i2 work fine together. The problem was when I turned on TH2 that gave me the error I mentioned. However, after a while of trials for some unknown reason, now TH2, Scarlett 2i2 and Audacity work fine. I didn’t do anything, it just started working fine out of the blue.

But now I have another problem, Audacity is only recording clean guitar sounds without the TH2 effects!

I’m not sure I understand you here. Could you be more specific please? Thank you.

Audacity has to record from a device like a microphone or a USB Cassette Machine. It can’t record from a process or a filter … like live effects with TH2. There may be a way to jigger Stereo Mix to allow you to record the speaker signal when TH2 is running. But then you can’t change the speaker volume when the recording is happening and you can’t fold a microphone into the mix.

Ok, so basically Audacity and TH2 don’t work together. Recording via mic could be an option tho.
