Problems converting an audio file into an mp3

Hello.

I’ve been attempting to convert an audio file into an mp3 with no success.

I followed the instructions to the letter for the Mac from this link:

As you can see from the following screen-shots, to no avail.

This is very frustrating! What am I doing wrong? I noticed that I had no problems converting audio files into wav’s. Should I forget about converting audio files to mp3’s and focus on converting them into wav’s instead?

  1. You are probably using an old version of Audacity.
  2. You are trying to follow instructions that are very out of date that also has errors,

The current version of Audacity is 2.3.2 and it is available via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/
The current version of Audacity includes LAME, and it is installed automatically as part of Audacity.

Installing Audacity from the DMG also installs the Audacity manual, so up to date and correct instructions for the installed version of Audacity are readily available from the Help menu.

Yeah, I kind of figured that my version of Audacity was outdated because I did everything right. Thank you for confirming that for me! I just installed the latest version and now I can convert audio files into mp3’s. Thank you very much! :slight_smile:
