After plugging the TA-LP120X turntable in my computer, the “USB AUDIO CODEC” does indeed show among the mounted devices. However, when I then attempt to select as recording device within Audacity, the choice “Microphone (USB Audio CODEC)”, which according to your video tutorials is the appropriate one, does not show among the possibilities, I only get three choices 1) Microsoft Sound Mapper; 2) The internal microphone of the computer, and 3) Lines (Apogee Duet). The Apogee Duet is a hi-quality converter that I only use when I need very high sampling frequencies. Note that this converter works without problems, but it is not plugged in when I plug the turntable converter. Note also that the same problem encountered with Audacity occurs also when I try to record with Adobe Audition 2019: the option “Microphone (USB Audio CODEC)” is missing also in this case. Does anyone have a clue? Thanks.

Drill-down through the menus to make sure it’s enabled. And, plug-in the turntable before starting Audacity.

I had a problem once when switching between USB devices. Apparently, the driver “got confused”. You can try removing the driver. It should re-install automatically when you plug in the turntable and the problem may be fix itself. Right-click the Start icon, open the Device Manager, going into the device manager and delete driver, click Universal Serial Bus Controllers, find the USB device and “Uninstall Device”.
Or, your turntable has a line output so you can use the Apogee. Sometimes having an analog recording level control can be useful. You don’t need high resolution for analog vinyl, but it won’t hurt. Or you don’t have to record at a high sample rate, or you can downsample later.
When I use Apogee Duet, I pick up the signal from the line output of my McIntosh preamp. Sampling at higher frequencies also from good quality vinyls that have frequency components up to 25 KHz is instrumental for post-processing the recording with AU. I will try to dismount the USB Sound CODEC before plugging the turntable.
