Problem with a imported audio

Hello, i’m Tente and this is my first post, i’m new with sound edition and i’m seeking for some help

I have this sample from an old cassette i imported with a ION Tape 2 Go USB cassette

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/44883596/Sample.wav

As you can see the volume is going up and down all the song, is there any way to make it sound at the same volume or whatever i have wrong ?

Thanks in advance !

I can’t listen because I’m at work right now, but it doesn’t actually look bad.

Before you start, it’s a good idea to use the Amplify effect to bring the peaks up to 0dB. And it wouldn’t hurt to repeat that after you’re done leveling the volume.

The best approach is probably to use the Envelope Tool to adjust the volume up-and-down manually where needed. It’s hard to beat the human brain and human judgment for something like this.

You can also try Effect → Leveler.

Or, you can try some dynamic compression. Dynamic compression reduces dynamic range by boosting quiet parts and/or reducing loud parts. (Usually, it’s used to make “everything loud”.) There is a built-in Compressor effect, or you can try Chris’s Compressor.

Wherever you boost the volume, you’ll boost the background noise and it could be annoying hearing the noise pump up-and-down. If you want to try some noise reduction, use the noise reduction filter (effect) before messing with the volume, because a slight constant background noise is easier to remove than a varying noise.

You’ll have to experiment because with any processing/enhancement, sometimes “The cure is worse than the disease”.

Woah ! i’m tried everything you said and the Envelope Tool have the best results…now the bad side, this is a 35 mins DJ session and editing the whole session will be a pain

Thanks for your help DVDdoug
