I installed version 2.2.2 earlier today, but almost immediately had to revert back to version 2.1.3.
I could not understand the new layout and how it works. I have always been used to importing in a track, selecting the entire track, and then entering in a starting position to edit from.
2.2.2 is totally different. Could someone please explain to me how I can get 2.2.2 to behave the same way as 2.1.3 as far as selecting a portion of a track.
For example if the track is 5 minutes long and I want to start editing from 2 minutes and 30 seconds. I would like to have the portion from 2:30 to 5:00 highlighted and have it start playing from 2:30.
Selecting a portion of a track with click&drag in the track should be exactly the same process in 2.2.2 as it was in 2.1.3 - we have not cjhanged that ever.
The colorway is different - in 2.1.3 the selection was highlighted dark gray - in 2.2.2 with the new default Light theme we introduced a while back the selection is highlighted white (almost white).
On version 2.1.3, there are there is “Selection Start”, “End (or length)”, and “Audio Position”. I always clicked in the space on the left and the entire track was highlighted. The track length appeared in the “End” box. I was then able to enter a value in the “Selection Start” box and the highlighted track changed to reflect the new starting position. The “Audio Position” also changed to reflect this. When I click on the play button at the top (right arrow), it would play from the beginning of the selection, not the beginning of the track.
I could not get version 2.2.2 to do any of this. I could not get the entire track highlighted when clicking in the space to the left and I could not understand the new layout at the bottom of the page.
I think maybe that I was confused by the changes to the coloring scheme and also the layout at the bottom. I just looked at the online 2.2.2 manual and think I will try it again. Will post back here if I continue to have problems adjusting.
If you really want to use 2.2.2 and have it look (approximately, as close as we can get it) like the old way, you can always choose the Classic theme.
Just go to Edit > Preferences and choose the Interface tab and you will see a Theme entry where you can choose “Classic” - but personally I really like the newer default “Light” theme - you might want to look at the “Dark” theme too.
