This is probably a trivial question from a newbie, but I am kind of helpless.
I start audacity in order to record some music. I push the red button for recording, then after a few seconds the blue stop button.
Now I see the blue histogram of the music. However, when I open the file menue, “save project” and “export audio” (and nearly all other
entries) are grey - they are not clickable.
So how do I save my recording?

By default, the spacebar is used for both play and stop.
Optionally (in keyboard preferences), separate keyboard shortcuts may be set for Play and Stop, but by default, these key bindings are not set.
If you hover over the Pause key, you will see that it says “(P)”, which indicates that the “P” key is the hot-key for “Pause”, and “(Home)” for the skip to start button.
Because there is no hot-key for the “Stop” function, the tooltip (hover text) shows the parentheses “()” but no key or key combination, because one is not set.
If you set a custom key binding for the stop key (though I would not recommend doing so - it’s more convenient to use the shared “spacebar” for "Play / Stop), but if you did, then that would show up between the parentheses in the tooltip.
