preventing tracks from getting merged together on export?

I want to export my project as either an mp3 or ogg, preferably ogg. How do I prevent all of my tracks from getting merged into 1 when exporting? I got FFmpeg installed so in case I need to use that I’m ready, I just need to know how. Also all the tracks are mono, 32-bit float and 44100hz. Thanks in advance

If you select a track (or part of a track, etc.) you can Export Selected Audio and you’ll get a separate file that’s not mixed/merged with anything else.

What are you trying to do with multiple tracks?

What do you mean by “multiple” tracks? How are they getting “merged”? One after the other or mixed-together to play at the same time?

by getting merged i mean that when opening up the exported mp3 file in audacity all of the tracks from the aup file are a single track, like when you select tracks and mix and render them to a new track. i don’t want that, i want it to look exactly like the aup file when opening it up in audacity. I’ve seen other people do it and i know that they used audacity to edit their songs

You have to export into a sound format that supports multi-track. That’s not WAV or MP3. Dolby/AC3 can do that.

I thought we had instructions on this somewhere…

MP3 only supports mono (1 track/channel) or stereo (2 tracks/channels).

OGG can support multiple channels - Go to Edit → Preferences → Import/Export and select Use Advanced Mixing Options.

yep, i found that option a bit earlier, thanks for the response though. if anybody else wants to know this then i guess you answered it
