Prevent multi-channel WAV import from making first 2 channels a stereo track

Importing a 32-channel WAV file (produced from the Behringer X-Live card on a Midas M32R). Audacity creates a stereo track from the first 2 channels and mono tracks from the remaining 30 channels. Is there any way to prevent the stereo track? I just want 32 mono tracks from importing the 32-channel WAV file.

I realize I can split the stereo track into 2 mono tracks but this messes with the track naming. Not a big deal but if there is a way to prevent the stereo track in the first place it would be sweeter.

No, not yet. I’ve noted this as a feature request on the Audacity wiki.
For now you will have to split the first track.
