So i’ve been messing around in audacity and I turned timeshift on to do something. Well now I can’t turn it off… I’m new btw so I may just be doing something wrong. Would really appreciate some help. 
Try pressing the “F1” key, or select the “Selection tool” from the “Tools toolbar” (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tools_toolbar.html)
