only can record up to 2 seconds. plz help

Why is that? What happens after 2 seconds?

By the way, those “error” messages just mean that Audacity can’t find the optional Ffmpeg library, which, assuming that you have not tried to install Ffmpeg, is perfectly normal.

After 2 seconds, a system noise pings and then it stops recording. the marker stops and then quits recording.

We cannot see your computer. What are you are trying to record? A YouTube video? A microphone plugged into the mic port on the computer? A USB cassette deck?

If it is any kind of a USB device, make sure you are plugging into a spare USB port on the computer. Do not plug into a USB hub that has other USB devices connected to it.

If you have selected two seconds of audio in the Audacity waveform and have Transport > Overdub “on” (look in the menus at the top) that will cause Audacity to record only two seconds. If this is the problem, press HOME on your computer keyboard to remove the selection and move the cursor to time zero. If you want to retain the selection and record past the end of it, turn Overdub off.

There should not be a system ding when recording stops, as far as I know.

If that doesn’t help, reboot the computer.
