OK I know it’s New Year’s Eve. I hope everyone is out having a great time, but also, I secretly hope that you’re all here, ready and willing to talk me off a ledge. For the most part, I love Audacity. But sometimes it goes crazy for no reason when I’m on a super-tight deadline, and now happens to be one of those times. I’m just going along, editing a 40-minute file (book chapter). I have a second of room tone “copied” and I’m just CTRL+V’ing it in my pauses that are clicky, etc. Do this for about 28 minutes of the track, then as I go to do it for the billionth time, instead of pasting the room tone, it eliminates the selected section. So, the track used to look like [words] [silence] [words]; I highlighted the silence and hit CTRL+V to replace it with the clean silence, and now it looks like: [words] [words]. No more silence at all. And now it’s stuck like that. I cannot get anything to paste into the tiny space between [words] and [words]. Also, inexplicably, about 25 seconds of text is just missing from the recording a few minutes later into the track. It just cuts off and there’s blank space (about 2 minutes’ worth, according to the ticker on the top) and then it starts up again (but again, with about a paragraph missing). I tried closing and restarting Audacity, because that’s all I know to do, but to no avail. HELP PLEASE. Thank you.
I’m using Windows 7 Home Premium, Audacity 2.1.0, .exe installer. If this is because I haven’t upgraded to Windows 10 like my computer keeps asking me to…
