Please HELP ! Audacity failed to read from a file in C

Hi , i was recording guitar for a project and Audacity suddenly crashed on me , now i get the message FAILED TO READ A FILE IN C: , all i have on the Daw are mute unusable tracks now . Is there a way to recover my files ?Can anyone help me ? It´s a 240MB file of 40 seconds or so but i need it for music school , it will save my life if nyone can help me with that file . I am using Windows 10 by the way.

I think that one is suppsed to say C:. It’s possible the system doesn’t know where the file is. I don’t know how your on-screen message can be different from this analysis. A Windows elf can drop in.

I tried to follow the walkthrough with the prompts but i get unable to reach data all the time
I am affraid those files are lost forever

Hello :slightly_smiling_face: I actually tried to follow these steps but i get the message in the prompt " unable to find data " , i always get it on Step 10 of this walkthrough

I don’t know what i am doing wrong or if there’s a possibility to recover my files . I am not really a pc expert

Most problems of that sort can be solved in the Perrmissions. Open Properties / Security, and see who is/are allowed to work the file or folder or directory, or Audacity itself or any other application. In Advanced (Security tag, below), check whether you are the Proprietor of the file or folder or directory. In tag Compatibility (Properties dialog), see whether you are running Audacity as user or proprietor, and mark or disable accordingly.
