Please Help A Newbie With Splitting Tracks

Hello all,
I have purchased a Audio Technica lp120 turntable and i have uploaded Audacity 2.0.5 onto my laptop. I want to transfer some old lp’s to mp3 for disc burning but i am having some issues. I can not seem to figure out how to split a recording into multiple tracks. I need an easy way to do this and would love some tips. Do i have to split tracks while recording? Can it be done after? I also noticed when i attempted to split tracks it is still saving as one file. Please help me!
Thank you all in advance!
Al

That’s the first problem. MP3 is a delivery format and causes sound distortion. Use WAV (Microsoft) for Export to a CD burning program.

You generally do song breaks in Post Production. Record the whole disk and then go back and put a label at the front of every song. Then File > Export Multiple and Audacity will make a pile of individual files suitable for import into your Audio CD Authoring Program.
