OK, am I missing something very obvious, or (as suggested by someone) will I need to get an external piece of hardware to synch the playback while recording a new track? I’ve done enough recording in other studios in my day to make it work, but it’s really distracting, and I don’t see anything in the tool bar or in the “help” section that is giving me any clues.
Im not 100% sure i understand your problem, If you are trying to allign tracks then you can use the time shift tool which is located up the top left of the tool bar and looks like <->. do a search for time shift and you’ll be able to find a tutorial.
or if you are getting an echo in the headphones that is delayed when you are trying to record a new track read this post it may help
I have not had a chance to try the technique that was suggested in your link- I will give it a whirl sometime in the next day or two. However, that is exactly what I was referring to. As I’ve said, I’m new to the engineering side of the recording process, even though I’ve been a studio musician for the past 27 years. So sometimes I just don’t have the language, nor the understanding, of things that I should. That’s what comes from being in the middle of the learning curve.
Thank you very much for your help, and your quick reply.
