playback only through one speaker

I hope someone can help…

Im using audacity 2.0.5 (updated via .dmg from 2.0.3 which was installed from the disk that came with my turntable) on Mac OSX 10.8.5.

I use audacity primarily to play records through my computer using a USB turntable and external speaker system. This is my best alternative to buying a receiver and traditional record player. When I initially started using this setup, the settings I had configured allowed me to hear the playback of the record through BOTH of my speakers. Recently, I changed these settings in order to accommodate another piece of software, and now my playback is only through ONE speaker. I’m sure there is a quick fix or article on how to correct this, but I can’t seem to find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would greatly appreciate it.

Audacity > Preferences > Devices > Recording: [X] Stereo (select).

Thans fo the quick response. I did look into that when I was trying to fix it myself, but it was already set to stereo. Any other suggestions?

Which was?

Download and play this short test file. It’s a stereo test. It’s very dull except for the fourth segment which may sound like it’s coming from behind you.

I downloaded the test file and played it in audacity. It worked perfectly fine. I then tried to play a record again and it was still only playing from the right speaker. The software I used that required me to change the settings was skype.
