Playback is interrupted or suspended

I’ve got PC (Win 10) and Laptop (Win 7)
Processor and memory are suitable for Audacity. Task manager shows it is loaded wery low level.
After updating to version 3 it was discovered that Audacity cannot play project. During playback sound from time to time stops (sound interrupted for 0.3 sec app.). Then playback continues. It goes app 15-30 sec then interruption again takes place.
Drivers were updated.

  1. At PC I have got SSD for software. As soon as I put in properties to work with HDD (for session data) then project has problem in playback.
As soon as I put in properties use for data SSD then it goes OK.
If I put project in SSD - no issues. Playback is OK.
  2. For laptop no matter what HDD I use. Issue still exists. No playback as should be. Only with interruptions.
Is it problem with sound card?
is it problem with software audacity?
is it new audacity feature that it is working OK only with SSD?
    No idea at all

I have a W10 PC with an onboard SSD and an large onboard HDD.

The Audacity app sits on the SSD and will happily work with projects either on the SSD or the HDD

Is your HDD internal or an external plug in device? And how is your HDD formatted?

Peter.

Peter, SSD is onboard (plugged into motherbord directly)
HDD is external. It is inside PC case but conected to motherboard through cables. Formatted NTFS. As soon as app works with SSD (sits on it and keeps session data including temporary) everything is OK

And what shall we do with laptop?((((( no poccibility to install SSD

Well I have to admit I’m foxed …

I have a small old USB clip drive which I is formatted as NTFS and it runs fine with an Audacity project on it.

My workaround for you would be to work with projects on the SSD and move them to the HDD after you have closed them. It’s basically what I do anyway.

Peter.
