Playback Echo 2.0.0 Windows 7

I use Audacity 2.0.0 on Windows 7

I have been using Audacity to record lectures for about 12 years. About 2 years ago I downloaded 2.0.0 and have used it successfully without any problems until recently. In several of the lectures I recorded this summer in the midst of lectures it begins playing back what sounds like 2 versions of the same talking a second or 2 out of sync. So when I export it to MP3 it comes out as skips and gaps that can’t be followed. Does anyone know how I can salvage the recording, get rid of the echo, without having to re-record the whole course?

Its very odd, the lectures I recorded later in time are fine.

If it can’t be salvaged does anyone know why this happened and how i can prevent it from happening again

All ideas welcome.

Thanks greatly

Do yourself a favour and obtain the current Audacity 2.1.2 from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/.

From your description you can’t salvage the bad recordings. With what mic or device were you making the recordings? Perhaps your computer was overtasked when you made the recordings. See Managing Computer Resources and Drivers.
