play back during recording [SOLVED]

when i record the playback happends at the same time. this is new problem i have never seen before. how do i stop the playback During Recording. thanks for any help in advance. Regards

When I Record From A Turntable into a mixer then into my mac/Audacity. When I Hit The Record Button The Record And Playback Happends At The Same Time. I Need To Have the Record Happening Only.

I’m not on Mac myself so I may not be able to offer much help. What we can do now is to ensure that there is enough information so that when of the Mac guys come along they will know what the problem is and be able to help your :wink:

Is that when you have recorded one side of the record and are then recording the second side? If so, press the “Pause” button rather than the “Stop” button at the end of side 1, then press the Pause button again to resume the recording after you have turned the record over.


The current version of Audacity is 2.0.5, so at a convenient time I’d recommend that you update. The current version of Audacity is always available here: Audacity ® | Downloads

Thanks To Everybody That Helped Me. You Guys Rock! I Found How To Fix The Problem play back during recording for mac. go to transport Left Click Once. A Drop Page Will Appear then go down the drop page and click software playthrough (On/Of) To Engage Or disengage Playback During Recording. I Switched From On To Of. Problem solved!
