Play a track at half speed while recording it on another

Hi all
I recorded a track into audacity from a tape machine that played it at twice the normal speed.
There was no speed adjustment on the tape machine and it was a different one than
the original machine.
I see in Audacity that I can adjust the play speed on the right side of the toolbar to
50% and that works great.
So now I want to play that track at half speed while recording on another track.
I wonder if that is possible?

You don’t need to record while playing at half speed. Just use the “Change Speed and Pitch” effect.

There is another feature to change speed of the recording permanently.
