Pitch Change Problem

When lowering the pitch of a karaoke backing track, the result is always muddy and not clear; the lower the change, the worse it gets. This result is common for all music (MP3) for which I lower the pitch.

A Karaoke player program on my PC (KaraFun) changes pitch with little or no distortion.

Is Audacity planning any upgrade of the Change Pitch function or is this just the nature of the beast?

It’s the nature of the “Change Pitch” effect.
Karaoke players often change both the pitch and the speed - you can do this with the “Change Speed” effect - the sound quality will be much better.

If you boost the higher frequencies (above 2KHz by about 10db) after slowing or lowering it helps improve speech clarity.
