I use Audacity to produce a podcast and have suddenly started having issues with my audio. I opened multiple types of audio in Audacity- a voice memo from my phone, an interview recorded straight into Audacity through a USB adapter, and an mp3 recorded in a studio. All of them playback fine in iTunes and elsewhere but when I import them to Audacity I get crackling that is also present when I export the finished file and post on soundcloud. I tried reducing audio to buffer, uninstalling Audacity, and restarting the computer, but this problem still persists. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it!
Please start by telling us what version of Audacity you are using (all three numbers, see the pink panel at the top of the page). If you are using a really old 2.0.x version of Audacity it might create this noise if you have tracks offset from time zero. So update to 2.1.2 from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac if you are not already using it.
Are you saying when you import files into Audacity that are quiet in iTunes, then export the files and listen to them in iTunes, the files are then crackly?
