Hi I am trying to export audiofiles in wav from audacity, however when I try to play it, I keep getting the message that it is encoded in a format that is not supported. It contains PCM audio.
So I tried to convert it from PCM to MP3 but online converters do not recognize is as an PCM file.
I am stuck at the moment, as I am not too technical. Does anyone encountered this and knows how to resolve it? Thank you. Trudy.
When reading a WAV, some apps expect signed 16-bit PCM. Audacity allows you to export some more advanced encodings than that, so if your other programs don’t know it, try exporting signed 16-bit.
Alternatively, if you want to use MP3 anyway, you also can export as MP3.
“Regular” WAV files are uncompressed PCM and normally there is no problem and they will play almost anywhere.
What software are you trying to play it with?
Check the format details with MediaInfoOnline and post the results here.
