Hi, I’m new to this. I am trying to record words onto an instrumental track, but every time I try to record, it begins recording after the track, instead of overdubbing. I have overdub toggled on, and have tried to use the shift key to set my cursor, but I can’t seem to get it to work. All of the tutorials imply that it should begin recording over the original track, but nope.
Either:
At Audacity > Preferences > Recording, “Record on a new track” is probably unchecked. You can either:
a) hold the Shift key while clicking the Record button, or
b) check “Record on a new track” in Recording Preferences.
Also make sure you click the Skip to Start button to set the cursor at the start of the track.
