Other sound recording software works. Have uninstalled multiple times. Checked settings all set to original. Shows devices refuses to record sound clearly the software is at fault . Never had this problem on the old version. Read other posts none helpful . Using Win 10 64 bit tried 32 bit still not working.
What are you trying to record from and what are the symptoms? (Error message, silent recording, etc.?)
It’s OK to record with different software and you can still edit with Audacity if you want.
Or you can re-install an older version
Or look whether Audacity is allowed to use “Microphone” in the privacy settings.
No microphone attached just sound card and speakers
You tube signed in to make sure I had access. All I get is a straight line no sound at all I cleared the recording settings only thing checked is Detect dropouts
“Microphone” means any sound input in most computers. Not just physical microphones.
- In Windows 10, go to:
- Start > Settings > Privacy > Microphone
- In Windows 11, go to:
- Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
- In macOS, go to:
- System settings > Privacy and Security > Microphone
Since you do not state what operating system you use, I cannot give you a direct link to support pages of your OS.
