OS X 10.11.6 Open .aifc files with audacity

I can open aifc files in audacity, but if I try to set “always open with this application”, when double click on an aifc generated by Quicktime, I am told that the aifc file is from an unrecognzed developer.

Does anyone know how to default aifc (and other audio files) to audacity in El Capitan?

I am told that the aifc file is from an unrecognzed developer.

I think it’s more likely Audacity is from an Unrecognized Developer. AIFC is a compressed version of AIFF which is a native Mac file format.

There’s a trick to this I don’t remember. Maybe another elf will drop in. I think there’s a way to accept Audacity as a value application. Assuming it is. Did you get it from here?

There are people making bogus versions of Audacity. What is the numbered version of Audacity? I’m using 2.1.2.

The best way is to do without opening the file first time around. Right-click or CONTROL-click over Audacity.app (wherever you installed it) and choose “Open”. In the dialogue that appears, choose “Open”.

Then you can use Open with normally.
