I’ve been using Audacity for my recordings. My PC specs are, briefly:
AMD FX-6300 six-core
16 GB DDR3L
NVIDIA QUADRO P400 with two 144 Hz monitors
Behringer UM2 with cardioid mic
A fairly old machine that works really well!
However, the PC restarts suddenly in the middle of a session. Just restarts, as if I just pushed the restart button. Tried Windows 10 Pro, Windows 11 Pro and Manjaro Linux 6.12, so it’s not a hardware problem. Note that I have all drivers properly updated.
If all those operating systems are running on the same PC and each one crashes in Audacity, I’m inclined to agree with DVDdoug that it’s probably a hardware fault - maybe RAM. You could test it using Memtest running on a USB stick unless your bootloader has memtest as an option. In that case you could run it from boot.
I hope you can sort it out.
