[Audacity 2.0.4, OSX 10.8.5]
For certain projects, I set Audacity as the default app with which to open MP3 files (open the Get Info window, select Audacity under “Open with”, then click “Change all”).
Until yesterday, that worked just fine in Audacity 2.0.3. I could double-click an MP3 file, and there it would be in an Audacity window.
Today, since upgrading to 2.0.4, that doesn’t happen. With Audacity running, I double-click the file and see the little zoom effect of a file being opened, but nothing else happens.
If Audacity is not running as I double-click, it launches and opens an empty window.
Any ideas?
No - it got broken somewhere between 2.0.3 and 2.0.4 and nobody knows where yet I’m afraid.
Open or import files under the File menu, or drag the files in, and if the imports crash, please see https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/import-crashes-and-file-open-failures-in-2-0-4-release/31042/1 .

OK, thanks.
This kinda interrupts my work flow, so I think I will revert to 2.0.3.
Gale,
I have the same problem with audacity 2.0.5. (Mac OS 10.8.5). Any idea yet why?
Thanks,
Kirk
Please try http://www.audacity.homerow.net/cgi-bin/dl?mac/audacity-nightly-2013.09.30-03.15/audacity-macosx-ub-2.0.5.zip .
That should fix all the import crashes and the “Open with”, “drag to icon” and “double-click the file” cases, except for the case that you have already requested a VST scan - the “Install VST Effects” dialogue will then stop the file importing. But that should be fixed too by 2.0.5 Release.
If the above 2.0.5-alpha has a problem, please give us exact steps to reproduce it, then we’ll look at it.
Thanks,
Gale
Solved my problem. Thanks.
Gale,
Alpha version works great! Drag & drop & double clicking on the file work now.
Thanks,
Kirk
